Spartanburg, S.C. - The Citadel's Sean Markey has been named Southern Conference Wrestler of the Week for the week of Feb.8. This marks the second time that Markey has garnered the award this season.

The Randolph, NJ, native put together three exceptional performances this past week, leading the Bulldogs to a third-place finish at the All-Academy Championships and was the catalyst in a key 24-15 conference victory over VMI this past week.At the All-Academy Championships in Kings Point NY, Markey went 3-0 and was named the Ken Shelton Outstanding Wrestler.Markey recorded two of his victories via pin and the other as a result of a major decision. He is the first Citadel wrestler to win the award and he improved his dual record to 5-0. He is The Citadel's record holder for career victories (120) and pins (64), and is currently ranked ninth in his weight class by the NWCA.

Markey and the Bulldogs will be back in action on Thursday as the Bulldogs entertain Appalachian State in a key Southern Conference dual match at McAlister Field House.
