The Citadel in Sixth After First Day of Fighting Camel Spring Classic

Buies Creek, N.C. - The Citadel Bulldogs golf team sits in sixth place out of 12 teams after the first day of the 54-hole Fighting Camel Spring Classic played at Keith Hills Country Club No. 2.

After firing a total of 331 in the first round, the Bulldogs shot a 330 to finish with a score of 661 in the first 36 holes, three strokes ahead of seventh-place High Point.

Georgetown is in first place with a score of 621, one stroke ahead of host Campbell. Gardner-Webb sits in third with a total of 629, fellow Southern Conference member UNC Greensboro is in fourth and Mercer is fifth with a score of 644.

Individually, senior Kayla Bowsher paced the Bulldogs with a score of 157 (75-82) which places her 11th in the tournament. The first-round score of 75 was the best round for a member of The Citadel in the spring season so far and is Bowsher's best score of the year. Kelley Thorsen had the best score of the second round for the Bulldogs as she fired an 80 for a total of 166 on the day (86-80).

The final 18 holes of the tournament will be played on Tuesday at Keith Hills Country Club No. 2. Results will be available at www.citadelsports.com.
