Appalachian State plated two quick runs in the bottom of the first inning off Davidson starting pitcher Rob Wilson, who pitched all innings for the Wildcats in the contest, striking out six and giving up five runs.
Third baseman Nick DeRose inaugurated things by doubling to right centerfield to put the first Mountaineer of the game on base. Hitting from the third slot, Appalachian's Ben Billingsley then laced a double down the right field line to score DeRose.
Billingsley made his way to the dish two batters later on a Rook ground out to Davidson third baseman Alden Crissey, making the game 2-0.
Appalachian State added two more in the bottom of the fourth inning to set the contest at 4-0. Both of the runs were unearned, but were made possible through a single by DeRose.
Davidson scored all of its runs in the top of the seventh inning.
The Wildcats scoring in the top of the seventh inning began when with runners on the corners, Davidson's Alex Entrekin doubled to centerfield off Appalachian State starting pitcher Garrett Sherrill to score Hugh Eden and give the Wildcats their first run of the game.
Two batters later with the bases jammed relief pitcher Josh Fish, who had just came in for Sherrill, walked in Ronnie Shore to place the Wildcats within two at 4-2.
Crissey was then able to square the contest at 4-4 one batter later when he smashed a double to short right field to score Entrekin and Jay Heafner.
