The Citadel's Chris Swauger and Sonny Meade were named to the Coaches All-Southern Conference team announced Wednesday, May 24. Swauger was honored with first team accolades, while freshman Sonny Meade was tabbed to the second team.

Sophomore left fielder Chris Swauger made his debut in the outfield this season after starting at first base during his freshman campaign. The Tampa, Fla. native leads the Bulldogs with a .341 batting average, while also leading the club in hits (73), triples (10), home runs (6), total bases (126), slugging percentage (.589) and on base percentage (.426). His league-leading 10 three-baggers is second in the nation, two shy of the national leader. Swauger was also named the league's first Player of the Week while earning National Hitter of the Week from the NCBWA for his performance during the start of the 2006 season.

Designated hitter Sonny Meade started all 55 games for The Citadel as a freshman. Meade leads the Dogs with 17 doubles, enough for ninth on The Citadel's single-season list. The Summerville, S.C. product is second only to Swauger in hits (65), total bases (93) and runs (37). Meade is also effective from the mound as he has made seven appearances in relief. The right-hander earned his first collegiate win against No.17 College of Charleston on April 25, while also driving in the game-winning run. The Coaches All-Conference Team is selected by the head coaches of the member schools. The Media All-Conference Team will be announced Thursday, May 25.
