Charleston, S.C. Each of The Citadel's 16 athletic teams were represented as 105 cadet-student-athletes, including six with a perfect 4.0, were honored as part of the Southern Conference Academic Honor Roll for the 2005-06 academic year.

Senior business major Ryan Owens and sophomore business major Chris Swauger represented the baseball team after each earned a perfect 4.0 during the 2005-06 academic year. Senior business major Nicholas Medica of the tennis squad graduated in 2006 as the second highest ranking Cadet with a 4.0. Junior political science major Douglas Schmid of the men's track and field team, freshman Spanish major Nathan Pait of the rifle team, and senior physical education major Zach Bryant of the football squad all also earned a 4.0.

The academic honor roll consists of student athletes who participated in varsity sports and posted a 3.0 grade point average or higher while passing at least 24 hours in two semesters of classes or its equivalent for other academic calendars.

Southern Conference athletic directors established the honor roll prior to the 1988-89 athletic year. The number of honor roll members has increased in 12 of the 17 years it has existed.
