Charleston, S.C. The Citadel football team completed their second practice of the preseason, spending three hours in the afternoon heat at Willson Field on the campus of The Citadel Saturday.
“We had a long practice consisting of 30 periods today,” said head coach Kevin Higgins. “We are slowing the tempo down and working on understanding assignments. Fundamentals and techniques are our priority each practice.”
The Citadel's practice came after the team's annual media day, which was held at Johnson Hagood Stadium and the Altman Athletic Center. The team picture and group pictures were taken while local print and electronic media interviewed select players and Coach Higgins.
The Bulldogs have had a successful start to the fall preseason after most players spent the summer working hard to stay in shape and to get stronger.
“Our players reported back in great shape this fall,” said Higgins. “They have shown endurance throughout practice.”
The Citadel opens the season on Sept. 2 at Texas A&M with kickoff slated for 6 p.m. CT.
