Bulldog Spikers Fall at Davidson, 3-0

Davidson, N.C. The Citadel volleyball program closed out an eight match road swing Saturday afternoon, dropping a 3-0 decision at Davidson. Game scores were 30-9, 30-14 and 30-11.

 

Rachel Sanders led The Citadel (5-10, 0-3 Southern Conference) with seven kills, hitting .048 while Taylor Stanke had five kills, hitting .125. Davidson (9-8, 1-1 SoCon) was led by Katie Pierucci who put down 13 kills as she hit .458. Liz Williamson put down 12 kills en route to a .600 hitting percentage in the match.

 

The Bulldogs only managed to record 16 kills in the match as they hit -.117. Davidson had 45 kills, hitting .471. The Wildcats outblocked The Citadel, 10-1. The Wildcats recorded 13 aces in the match on The Citadel while sophomore Emily Hill recorded the lone Bulldog ace of the match.

 

The Citadel next returns to action on Wednesday, Sept. 27 at 7 p.m. as they return home to host Georgia Southern. That match will be a battle of first year head coaches as The Citdael's Carolyn Geiger leads her squad against GSU's Nicole McCray, a former All-SEC standout from Florida.
