Charleston, S.C. The Citadel women's soccer team prepares to head to Virginia to take on the Longwood Lancers on Sunday, Sept. 10 at 4 p.m. at the Athletics Complex. The Bulldogs conclude their two-game road trip after their stop at Longwood and will return home to face S.C. State on Tuesday, Sept. 12 at 4 p.m. at WLI Field.
Sunday will mark the second meeting between the Bulldogs (0-4-0) and Lancers (2-2-1) as Longwood captured a 3-0 victory in their first match-up last season in Charleston. The Bulldogs recently suffered a 4-0 loss in their first ever contest with SEC power South Carolina, while they are still in search of their first season victory.
The Lancers are coming off a 1-0 overtime loss at Saint Francis after beginning the season 2-1-1 in a four game home stand. Leading the Longwood attack is Tia Nardella with one goal and one assist. Many players are contributing to the scoring for the Lancers as five others have notched a goal a piece.
Citadel keeper Brit Bunnell continues to inch closer to the top spot on The Citadel all-time career saves chart. The Barberton, Ohio native posted five saves against South Carolina, bringing her career total to 195, just 31 shy of leader Angie Ellenwood with 226.
