Volleyball Hosts Bethune-Cookman, Savannah State in Doubleheader Friday

Charleston, S.C. The Citadel volleyball team is looking to extend its three-match winning streak as they host Bethune-Cookman and Savannah State Friday in the Bulldogs' home opener. The Citadel is coming off the Hampton Invitational where they won their final three matches to take home second place while senior Samantha Parisi was named to the All-Tournament Team.

The Citadel (3-2) has already pulled within one win of matching last season's win total. The Bulldogs can eclipse that mark with a pair of wins Friday, which would also mark their longest winning streak since early in the 2004 season, which also stands as the longest winning streak in school history.

Standing in their way is a tough Bethune-Cookman (0-0) team that is ready, if not eager, to begin their season. The Wildcats have a late start to the 2006 campaign and are ready to play. Bethune-Cookman will face Savannah State (0-5) at 1 p.m. in McAlister Field House. The Citadel is anxious to avenge last year's 3-1 loss to Bethune-Cookman. That match will begin 30 minutes after the day's first match, or at approximately 3 p.m.

In the final match of the day, The Citadel will face Savannah State. The Bulldog Spikers will be putting their all-time record on the line as the Cadets hold an 8-0 all-time record against the Tigers.
