At The Citadel's season opener in the Diet Pepsi Invitational, Sanders shattered her own school record during the prelims of the 55m hurdles. Sanders ran the hurdles race in 8.81 seconds, besting her previous school record of 8.97 seconds at the Stephen C. O'Connell Center on the campus of the University of Florida.

The Citadel track and field teams, along with Sanders, return to action on Saturday, Feb. 3 when the Bulldogs compete at the North Carolina Invitational at the Eddie Smith Field House on the campus of the University of North Carolina in Chapel Hill, N.C.
