The Citadel Football Travels to VMI for the 66th Installment of ?The Military Classic of the South?

Charleston, S.C. The Citadel football team wraps up the 2007 season Saturday as they head to Lexington, Va. to face longtime rival VMI in the 66th installment of “The Military Classic of the South.” Kickoff is set for Noon with the game being broadcast coast-to-coast on CSTV.

The Citadel (6-4, 4-3 Southern) is looking to put the final touches on their first winning season in 10 years and a victory Saturday would give the Bulldogs seven wins for the first time since 1992. VMI (2-8, 0-4 Big South) is looking to rebound off a tough 73-34 loss to Big South foe Liberty last week.

Redshirt freshman Bart Blanchard will make his third career start, his first on the road, coming off the third-best passing day in school history last week. Blanchard's 370 yards passing led the Bulldogs to a 42-31 upset of No. 19 Elon. Following his career day against the Phoenix, Blanchard was named the Southern Conference Freshman of the Week.

The Citadel leads the all-time series against VMI, 33-30-2, with the Bulldogs winning the past three meetings. The Citadel topped VMI, 48-21, in the 2006 edition of “The Military Classic of the South,” which also was The Citadel's Homecoming. The Bulldogs have won the last three meetings and seven of the last nine.
