Charleston, S.C.- The Citadel volleyball's Emily Hill finished the regular season ranked 16th nationally for service aces per game with a 0.60 mark.
Hill's record claims the highest national ranking ever by a female student-athlete at The Citadel, once held by Stephanie McNeill, who was ranked 21st in the shot put in the East Region during the 2006 outdoor track and field season.
“I am so proud of Emily and her national ranking,” said head coach Carolyn Geiger. “Serving is one of the strongest aspects of Emily's game, and I know that I can rely on her when she steps on the line to serve and serve tough. In an era when most schools are jump serving Emily proves that the floater serve can be just as effective. She has brought us back from several deficits with her serving ability alone. She has set herself apart by achieving the highest national ranking by a female student-athlete in this school's history. Being ranked 16th among all Division 1 schools in service aces per game is not only an amazing accomplishment but also puts her among the elite servers across the nation. I am so proud of her and what she has accomplished this season!”
Hill finished 1st in the Southern Conference in service aces per game and total service aces with 70.
