Charleston, S.C. The Citadel Wrestling team will travel to Reno, Nev. to take on some heavy competition including teams from the Big 12, MAC, Pac-10 and Mountain West conferences. The tournament features four Division-I nationally ranked teams, Division-II No. 4 ranked Adams State, two NAIA ranked teams and two NJCAA ranked teams. The Citadel and Appalachian State will be the only two teams present to represent the Southern Conference.
The Bulldogs placed 17th at last year's Reno Tournament of Champions (RTOC) and are looking to improve upon that finish with this year's young squad. The Cadets will face 24 other collegiate wrestling teams including No. 5 ranked Oklahoma State, last year's RTOC champions No. 6 ranked Central Michigan, No. 17 ranked Cornell and the Midshipmen of Navy who are current ranked No. 21. Action will get underway at 9 a.m. Pacific Time (noon Eastern) on Tuesday, Dec. 18, at the Reno Downtown Convention Center.
The Cadets are coming off a commanding 26-12 win over the Fighting Camels of Campbell on Dec. 13. The young grapplers have shown continuous improvement throughout this early portion of the season and are ready to leave their mark in Reno.
