Weather permitting, The Citadel (2-3, 0-0 Southern Conferece) hits the courts at the Earle Tennis Center for the first time this season as the Bulldogs host Coastal Carolina (7-2, 0-0 Big South) in the first of two consecutive home matches. The Cadets are looking to extend their win streak to three straight Sunday. The Bulldogs' previously scheduled home opener on Wednesday was postponed due to rain. Inclimate weather is forcasted for the Charleston area all day Sunday.

Scouting Coastal carolina

The Chants enter Sunday's match with a 7-2 record after falling to UNC Wilmington, 6-1. Coastal Carolina has now lost two of their last three matches after dropping a 5-2 decision to Furman right before topping Campbell, 4-3. The Chants are 0-1 against Southern Conference teams this season after their 5-2 loss against Furman. The Bulldogs will face both Furman and UNC Wilmington this season, taking on the No. 73 Paladins at home on March 31 at noon and playing at UNC Wilmington on March 26 at 1 p.m.

Last Time Out

The Citadel tennis team dropped a heartbreaking 4-3 decision to Air Force in Colorado Springs, Colo., but battled back to sweep both Idaho State and South Dakota State, 7-0.

Goliath Falls Again

The Citadel's Daniel Dossetor brought out the silver lining in The Citadel's match at No. 25 Clemson. Dossetor topped Clemson's Clement Reix, 2-6, 6-1, 7-6, who was ranked 46th in the nation and sixth in the region. That victory is Dossetor's second win over a nationally ranked opponent this year and the junior from Griffith, Australia has a 2-2 mark on the year against ranked opponents.

Top 20 and First Ever National Ranking

The Citadel's Daniel Dossetor and James Eason have achieved a first for Bulldog Tennis - a national ranking. In the season's first Fila/ITA Collegiate Tennis Rankings, the pair have been ranked 20th in the nation following their dominating doubles performance throughout the fall season. The pair teamed up to go 11-2 in doubles play during the fall, winning their last nine of 10 matches. No other Bulldog Tennis individual (singles or doubles) has ever been nationally ranked in school history and the Cadet tandem are the only individuals nationally ranked in the Southern Conference.

Dossetor 1-1 vs. Ranked Opponents

Junior Daniel Dossetor finished the fall season with a respectable 1-1 record against nationally ranked opponents, taking both down to the wire. Dossetor opened the fall with a tough 1-6, 6-1, 6-3 loss to Georgia's Harel Srugo, ranked 18th in the nation. Kentucky's Bruno Augostinelli was not as successful against Dossetor. Dossetor beat Kentucky's Augostinelli, ranked 59th in the nation, 6-7 (3), 6-1, 1-0 (9).

David vs. Goliath

Facing - and beating - some of the nation's top is nothing new to junior Daniel Dossetor. Dossetor finished the 2006 season 2-1 against nationally ranked opponents. Dossetor beat Charlotte's Roy Sichel (No. 81), 6-1, 7-6 (3) and topped Elon's Damon Gooch (No. 125), 7-6 (5), 6-3. Dossetor's only loss to a ranked opponent in 2006 was on Feb. 17 in a 4-6, 6-3, 6-2 three-set thriller against Clemson's Sander Koning, ranked No. 42. Dossetor has the opportunity to avenge that loss when the Bulldogs play at No. 23 Clemson on Feb. 2.
