Charleston, S.C.  Junior Chris Swauger was named to the ESPN The Magazine Academic All-District First Team for his performance on both the field and in the classroom.  This is the second consecutive season that Swauger has earned the honor.  The left fielder is one of four Southern Conference players to be tabbed to the list.

Swauger is automatically included on the Academic All-America ballot which will be voted on May 15.  The junior is currently batting .307 and is first in all-time career triples at The Citadel, tying Philip Hartig and Anthony Jenkins with 14.  Swauger set the single-season mark in three-baggers in 2006 with 10 and has a team-high four this season.  Swauger boasts a 3.92 GPA in the classroom as a business administration major.

To be nominated, the student-athlete must be a starter or important reserve with at least a 3.20 cumulative grade point average (on a 4.0 scale) for his/her career. No athlete is eligible until he/she has reached sophomore athletic and academic standing at his/her current institution (thus, true freshmen, red-shirt freshmen and ineligible transfers are not eligible). In the cases of transfers, graduate students and junior college graduates, the athlete must have completed one full academic year at the nominating institution to be eligible.
