Charleston, S.C. The Citadel women's soccer team and second year head coach Bob Winch announced the signing of six spring recruits that will be added to the Bulldog roster for the 2007 season. Three signees come to The Citadel from overseas while the other half are from Orlando, Fla., Appelton, Wis. and Atlanta, Ga.
The Bulldogs add two goalkeepers to their arsenal and add some depth at midfield while two recruits also play at defender and forward. Please see below for the complete list.
Liza Akesson is a native of Satila and is a 5'6” defender/midfielder.
Danielle Brown is a 5'11” goalkeeper from Manchester.
Nicole Martinoli is a 5'5” midfielder out of Bishop Moore High School in from Orlando, Fla.
Jessa Scott, a 5'3” midfielder/forward, is an Appleton Wis. native out of Appleton West High School.
Jessica Stewart, a 5'8” midfielder will join the Bulldogs from Calgary, Alberta.
Lisa Wilson will provide some depth at goalkeeper and is from Atlanta, Ga.
"Our main objective for this recruiting class is for them to bring us more competition within our team and for our opponents,” commented Winch. “Competing needs to be the daily emphasis."
The 2007 Bulldog soccer season kicks-off with an exhibition game against Campbell on August 20 at WLI Field at 10 a.m. Admission is free.
