Bulldogs Release 2007-2008 Basketball Schedule

Charleston, S.C. The Citadel Basketball and second-year head coach Ed Conroy released their 2007-2008 schedule on Wednesday. Highlighted by match-ups against schools from the Pac-10 and the SEC, the schedule also includes a trip to Penn to take on the three-time consecutive Ivy League Champions.

The Citadel will tip-off their regular season when they face Daniel Webster on Nov. 9. The Bulldogs will then travel to Columbia to face South Carolina on Nov. 12, before hosting Southern California in McAlister Field House on Nov. 15. The Bulldogs travel up the coast to face Penn on Nov. 20, but return home for Thanksgiving and to end the week with Webber International on Nov. 24.

“I am very pleased with the schedule,” said Head Coach Ed Conroy. “It will provide some tremendous opportunities for our young team to challenge themselves against the nation's best. Including, the chance to test ourselves on the road at South Carolina, against Penn in the historic Palestra, and against a very good Washington State team (a preseason top 5 team) in Seattle at the prestigious Cougar Hardwood Classic which is certainly exciting for our fans and team. November home games against Southern Cal with the No. 1 ranked recruiting class in the nation, along with Charleston Southern and others, will give our fans exciting match-ups and the opportunity to come out and support our young team.”

The Bulldogs will open the next week hosting Charleston Southern in McAlister Field House on Nov. 26. The Citadel then begins Southern Conference play as they head to Chattanooga on Dec. 1 and Davidson on Dec. 13.

After hosting Atlanta Christian on Dec. 15, the Citadel will take to the road again as they travel to Seattle, Wash. to face off against Washington State on Dec. 20 in the Cougar Hardwood Classic.

The Dogs are back in action in McAlister Field House on New Year's Eve against Cornell College.

“This exciting and ambitious non-conference schedule will not only help prepare our team for Southern Conference action, but also provide a schedule that is attractive to recruits and our fans as we continue the process of building this program. We will have to mature quickly as we face these opportunities with undoubtedly the youngest team in the country,” states Conroy.

The Bulldogs will dive into the New Year and the heart of their Southern Conference schedule as they host Elon on Jan. 3, Appalachian State on Jan. 5, and travel to UNC Greensboro on Jan. 7.

Both of The Citadel versus College of Charleston games will be televised this year on CSS.  The Cougars will come to McAlister Field House on Jan. 14 and the Bulldogs will enter Kresse Arena on Feb. 4. The Dogs look to wrap-up the regular season and conference play at Wofford on Mar. 1, followed by the Southern Conference tournament set for Mar. 7-10 at the North Charleston Coliseum.

All weeknight games at McAlister Field House will tip-off at 7:05 p.m., while weekend games will start at 2:05 p.m. except for Monday, Dec. 31 which will begin at 4:05 p.m.

All home games will be video and audio-streamed on www.CitadelSports.com. Audio will be available for all road games.
