The Citadel Tennis Adds Nationally Ranked Signee

Charleston, S.C. The Citadel tennis coach Toby Simpson announced the signing of Alan Shin from Dublin, Calif. on Wednesday. Shin is a five-star recruit who is ranked No. 2 in Northern California and is currently ranked 85th in the country by tennisrecruiting.net.

Shin is a member of the U.S. Tennis Association for junior tennis and is coached by Richard Tompkins. He recently competed in the winter supernationals in Phoenix, Ariz. where he made the round of 32, defeated a top seed and won three matches. Shin was also a member of a National Team Championship that represented Northern California.

"We are extremely excited about adding Alan to next year's roster,” said coach Simpson. “He is a very quick and consistent player that has much room to become an even better player than he already is. He has had success competing at the top national level and should be able to continue that success on the collegiate level very quickly."

Alan is the son of William and Betty Shin of Dublin, Calif. and has two brothers, Kenneth (17) and Peter (10).
