Charleston, S.C. The Citadel football team is back in action as they kicked off their first spring practice on Thursday at the Willson Field Complex. Bulldog Head Coach Kevin Higgins is pleased with the way the team came out and is looking forward to a good workout this spring.
“Our first practice went smoother. We felt more like a 7-4 team than a 4-7 team,” Higgins said. “Players understand the tempo at which we work and their effort was good. However, we still have a long way to go to be competitive in the Southern Conference.”
No injuries were reported in the two-and-a-half hour workout.
The Bulldogs will take it back to the field on Friday at 4 p.m. and then again on Saturday at 10 a.m. The Bulldogs will go to a Wednesday-Friday-Saturday schedule next week with all practices at the Maybank Triplets Football Practice Field at the Willson Field Complex.
The annual Blue and White scrimmage will take place on the Summerall Field on Saturday, March 15 at 1:30 p.m. The football team will report for the fall on July 31 and the Bulldogs' first game of the 2008 season will take place on Aug. 30 against Webber International at Johnson Hagood Stadium.
