Spartanburg, S.C. Following an impressive collegiate debut in which he struck out nine batters without allowing a run and only giving up two hits, The Citadel freshman Asher Wojciechowski was named Southern Conference Pitcher of the Week.

A freshman right-hander, Wojciechowski yielded two singles in six innings as The Citadel defeated Delaware, 12-0, on Feb. 23 in the second game of a doubleheader.  Making the first start of his collegiate career, the native of Beaufort, S.C., struck out nine in his first collegiate appearance.

In the SoCon's first weekly release, the Holy City swept the awards as the College of Charleston's Michael Harrington was named Player of the Week. Harrington batted .727 (8-of-11), scored eight runs with seven RBIs as the Cougars swept a three-game series with George Mason.  The senior from Cedar Rapids, Iowa had a pair of doubles and two home runs and had a 1.455 slugging percentage with 16 total bases. He also drew three walks and was hit by a pitch.

The Citadel (1-2) returns to action on Wednesday, Feb. 27 at 4 p.m. as the Bulldogs host UNC Wilmington for the first time since 1994. Live video and audio for the game will be streamed worldwide on Bulldog Insider at CitadelSports.com.
