Bulldog Baseball Hosts UNC Wilmington Wednesday Afternoon

The Citadel continues their opening season stretch against Colonial Athletic Association teams on Wednesday afternoon at Riley Park when the Bulldogs host UNC Wilmington at 4 p.m. The game will mark the first time since 1994 the two teams will meet. Darren Goldwater will call the play-by-play on the live video broadcast available anywhere in the world on Bulldog Insider at CitadelSports.com.

Wednesday's game against UNC Wilmington will be carried live on Bulldog Insider at CitadelSports.com. Play-by-Play by Darren Goldwater, who enters his fourth season as “Voice of the (Baseball) Bulldogs.”

Scouting UNC Wilmington
UNC Wilmington opened the season in the same fashion as The Citadel, winning their second game in the first weekend of play. The Seahawks, competing in the JU Invitational in Jacksonville, Fla., opened the season with a 23-16 loss to Richmond on Feb. 22. UNCW rebounded on the next day with a win over Milwaukee, 6-3, before falling to host Jacksonville, 9-0, on Sunday.

The Seahawks are coming off a 7-4 loss against Elon in UNCW's home opener. Wilmington committed five errors in the game but all seven Phoenix runs were earned.

Series History
The Bulldogs and the Seahawks will be meeting for the first time since 1994 and UNC Wilmington holds a 6-3 advantage in the all-time series. The two teams split the home-and-home series in 1994 as the Seahawks claimed the 5-0 win on April 5 in Wilington while the Bulldogs won 7-2 on April 14 in Charleston at College Park. This will mark the first time UNC Wilmington has played at Riley Park.

Jordan vs. the CAA
The Citadel has compiled a 13-11 record against members of the Colonial Athletic Association in Fred Jordan's 16-plus years at the helm of the Bulldogs. Jordan will have the opportunity to add at win to that tally with a mid-week match-up against UNC Wilmington on Wednesday, Feb. 27. That 13-11 record includes the Bulldogs winning seven of the past nine games, dating back to the 1998 NCAA Regionals when The Citadel dropped a 3-2 decision in 11 innings against Virginia Commonwealth at Clemson, S.C. The Bulldogs are currently 1-2 against CAA opponents this year after The Citadel dropped two fo the three games in the season's opening series against Delaware.

Swauger Sets Triples Record
Senior Chris Swauger broke the school's all-time triples record in The Citadel's season-opener on Feb. 23 in the first game of a doubleheader against Delaware. Swauger ripped a triple down the right field line in his second at bat of the game, his 15th career triple. Swauger ripped a 16th triple on Sunday, Feb. 24 in the Bulldogs' 6-4 loss to Delaware.

Wojciechowski Named Southern Conference Pitcher of the Week
Following an impressive collegiate debut in which he struck out nine batters without allowing a run and only giving up two hits, The Citadel freshman Asher Wojciechowski was named Southern Conference Pitcher of the Week.

A freshman right-hander, Wojciechowski yielded two singles in six innings as The Citadel defeated Delaware, 12-0, on Feb. 23 in the second game of a doubleheader.  Making the first start of his collegiate career, the native of Beaufort, S.C., struck out nine in his first collegiate appearance.
