Sonny Meade, Chris Swauger Earn Media All-Conference Honors

Charleston, S.C. The Citadel's Sonny Meade was named First Team All-Conference and Chris Swauger earned Second Team honors as the Southern Conference Sports Media Association announced their All-Southern Conference baseball teams Tuesday morning. Both Meade and Swauger were named All-SoCon by the coaches as well.

Meade and Swauger were the top to offensive performers for the Bulldogs in 2008. Both players made the Coaches All-Southern Conference team, but with Swauger earning First Team honors and Meade drawing Second Team accolades.

This marks the third consecutive season that Meade and Swauger earning All-SoCon honors.

Meade was awarded First Team All-SoCon honors after a season where he hit .396 and led the Bulldogs with 89 hits and 45 RBI. The honor is Meade's third All-Conference accolade, but only his second as an outfielder, being named to the All-SoCon team his freshman year as a designated hitter.

Swauger was named Second Team All-SoCon after a regular season where he finished second on the team in batting average, hitting .359 on the year. Swauger led the team in runs scored, double, home runs, slugging percentage, walks and on base percentage. Swauger finished the regular season ranked in several career statistical categories in the Southern Conference, including fifth in games played, third in at bats, eighth in runs scored, fifth in hits, sixth in total bases, tied for third in doubles and triples and seventh in walks.
