The Citadel Picked Sixth in Southern Conference Media Preseason Poll

Greenville, S.C. Members of the media picked The Citadel to finish sixth in the Southern Conference this season, mimicking the predictions of the league's coaches, as announced by the Southern Conference office Wednesday afternoon. The Citadel opens the season on Aug. 30 against Webber International.

Appalachian State was the consensus top pick in the league, garnering 29 of the 30 first-place votes. Similar to the coaches poll, Elon was picked second. Georgia Southern, who received the other first-place vote by the media, was picked third while Wofford and Furman were fourth and fifth, respectively.

Chattanooga was picked seventh, Western Carolina was picked eighth and Samford, entering their inaugural season in the SoCon, was picked ninth.
