Charleston, S.C. Several hundred Bulldog fans gathered around the Maybank Triplets Practice Facility at Willson Field on The Citadel campus to catch the Bulldog Football team in action as they competed in their last scrimmage of fall camp.
The Bulldogs took the field for their last preseason scrimmage before the start of the 2008 season. Hundreds gathered around the practice field to watch the Bulldogs as they prepare for Saturday, Aug. 30, their season-opener against Webber International in the “White Out” game sponsored by AT&T and presented by Jones Ford.
“Our first team only had 35 snaps,” said Bulldog head coach Kevin Higgins. “I thought our defense performed very well. We must continue to evaluate our kickers and solidify our special teams.”
Fans had the opportunity to catch a glimpse of The Citadel life when all the freshmen gathered around the track to cheer on their Bulldogs. Following the scrimmage, fans participated in “Meet the Bulldogs” where they were able to get autographs from many Bulldog players and enjoy lunch provided by Piggly Wiggly.
“It was a great atmosphere for our last scrimmage before Webber,” said Higgins. “With about 700 cadets on the sidelines, it was a great environment. “
