Bowling Springs, N.C.- The Bulldog wrestling team was led by 141-pound Derek Royster, who won all three of his matches.
The Citadel grapplers were in action on Jan. 10 in Bowling Springs, N.C. The Citadel wrestlers faced teams from Lock Haven, Va. Tech as well as the grapplers from Gardner-Webb in a quad meet.
Royster recorded a tech. fall over the 2007 NCAA qualifier Rob Tate from Gardner-Webb to add five points to the overall team score. Ivanschenko also pinned the same Gardner-Webb grappler in the first round of the Southern Scuffle Dec. 30.
The Bulldogs had a pretty solid day in all their meets. The Citadel grapplers started off the quad meet with a tie against Lock Haven 24-24. They then faced a tough meet against Va. Tech. They were unable to gain momentum and fell to the Hokies 29-9. The final meet of the day was against the grapplers from Gardner-Webb. The Bulldogs dominated the competition and walked away with a 41-3 victory.
