Charleston, S.C. - The Citadel's Cameron Wells was named to the CollegeInsider.com Preseason Mid-Major All-America team, marking the third such honor in 2009-10 that was bestowed on the junior point guard.
Wells finished 2008-09 ranked among the top two of eight Bulldogs statistical categories (first-steals, assists, FGM, FGA; second-points, minutes, points per game, defensive rebounds). His other honors include The Sporting News Preseason Southern Conference Player of the Year and Southern Conference Coaches Preseason All-Conference.
Wells will be relied on heavily from an offensive standpoint after he notched double-figure performances in 30 of 32 games last season. He established a new career-high, 30 points, in a 78-73 OT victory against Appalachian State on Feb. 12, hitting 11-16 from the field and a perfect 8-8 from the free-throw line.
