The Citadel Set to Face Old Dominion in CollegeInsider.com Tournament

CHARLESTON, S.C. The Citadel will make their first postseason appearance this week when they head to Norfolk, Va. to face Old Dominion in the first round of the inaugural CollegeInsider.com Postseason Tournament. The Bulldogs will battle the Monarchs on Wednesday, March 18 in the Ted Constant Convocation Center.

The Citadel finished the season with a 20-12 record after falling to Samford in the quarterfinals of the Southern Conference Tournament. The Bulldogs recorded the program's second 20-win season and won the most conference games in program history with 15.

Old Dominion, a member of the Colonial Athletic Association, finished their season with a 21-10 record after dropping a 61-53 decision to Virginia Commonwealth in the semifinals of the CAA Tournament.

The Monarchs and the Bulldogs have met once in program history and that was back in 1967. Old Dominion defeated The Citadel, 78-70, to take a 1-0 lead in the series. The Citadel has never faced the Monarchs in Norfolk.

Ed Conroy will be available for interviews at 3 p.m. on Monday, March 16 in McAlister Field House.

The CollegeInsider.com Postseason Tournament features a field of 16 teams.  It is a single-elimination tournament that consists of four rounds. The first three rounds will be played at an on-campus site based on seeding. The championship game will be played at an on-campus site as well, which will also be determined by seeding.

Other teams participating in the tournament are Rider, Liberty, Kent State, Oakland, Mount St. Mary's, James Madison, Austin Peay, Bradley, Belmont, Evansville, Portland, Pacific, Drake and Idaho.
