Basketball Send Off Scheduled for Thursday

CHARLESTON, S.C. The Citadel Basketball team would like to invite all fans, alumni, friends and media to show their support and send the Bulldog Basketball team off in style. The Bulldogs will leave at 11:10 a.m. on Thursday, March 5 to head to Chattanooga, Tenn. to battle for the program's first Southern Conference title.

The Citadel and the Corps of Cadets will hold a send off celebration on Thursday. All fans are asked to line up in front of McAlister Field House and cheer on your Bulldogs as they hit the road for the Southern Conference Tournament. Ed Conroy will briefly address all fans, friends, alumni, and media in front of McAlister Field House at 11 a.m. as the team loads the bus.

At 11:10 a.m., the Corps of Cadets will line up in formation in front of the barracks and will wait for the bus to pass by. As the bus leaves McAlister Field House at 11:10 a.m., the students, fans and friends will cheer on the Bulldogs as they depart for Chattanooga.

The Bulldogs enter the tournament with a first-round bye and have a 20-11 overall record. In the conference, the Bulldogs stand at 15-5. With 20 wins, the Bulldogs match the most wins ever by a Citadel basketball team. The 1978-79 team went 20-7 and won their first-round tournament game under head coach Les Robinson.

On Saturday, March 7, the Bulldogs will hit the hardwood to play their first game of the tournament. They will battle the winner of the Samford-Furman game. Tip-off is slated for 9:30 p.m. in McKenzie Arena.
