The Citadel Volleyball Concludes Spring Season

CHARLESTON, S.C. The Citadel Bulldogs will conclude the spring season with two competitions during the month of April. The Bulldogs will travel to Florence, S.C. to take on the Patriots of Francis Marion before concluding the season on the sand volleyball court.

The Bulldogs and the Patriots will face off on Wednesday, April 8 at 5 p.m. in the Smith University Center on the campus of Francis Marion University. The matchup against the Patriots will conclude the Bulldogs' season on the hardwood.

“Francis Marion will be a tough opponent,” said head coach Carolyn Geiger. “Last season, they played for the Peach Belt Championship. They are a strong, disciplined team that we will not take lightly. This will be our last indoor match for the spring season. Hopefully, we will play our best volleyball to finish our indoor season and transition to our outdoor season.”

The Citadel will close out spring competition with the Southern Conference beach volleyball tournament on Sunday, April 19 at the Windjammer on Isle of Palms. Other Southern Conference teams participating in the tournament are College of Charleston, Davidson, Elon, Georgia Southern, UNC Greensboro and Wofford.

“This is a first for this program,” said Geiger. “We were unable to participate in the SoCon beach tournament last year. I know our players are excited, but it doesn't leave us much time to prepare. Once we play our last match on Wednesday, we will start training outdoors on Thursday. Outdoor sand volleyball is so much different than indoors. It is a good learning tool to use and I am glad that we are able to train for this tournament and compete against other Southern Conference schools.”
