Danville, Va. - Former Bulldog Matt Crim has been named Appalachian League Pitcher of the Year. The left-hander sits at 10-0 on the year with a 2.61 ERA.
The 21st round draft pick of the Atlanta Braves had shattered the franchise record for most wins in a season with 10. He has 45 strikeouts to go along with only eight walks in 62 innings pitched this season. He has a 2.52 ERA as a starter and left-handed batters are hitting only .077 against the southpaw.
Crim helped the Danville Braves clinch the Eastern Division with a 43-18 record. The Braves swept Pitcher of the Year, Players of the Year and Manager of the Year honors in the Appalachian League.
