Matt Crim Throws Shutout to Win Appalachian League Title for Braves

Danville, Va. - Former Bulldog Matt Crim pitched a complete game, four-hit shutout to win the Appalachian League Finals for the Danville Braves last week.

The left-handed staff ace was named Appalachian League's Pitcher of the Year after compiling a 10-2 record with a 3.18 ERA in the regular season. Crim's teammate Brett Oberholtzer tossed a five-hitter in the opening game of the best-of-3 League Finals against the Elizabethton Twins.

"It was phenomenal back-to-back performances," said Danville manager Paul Runge. "Those guys were two of the best pitchers in the league all year long. They completely dominated the games. They were in complete control and really dissected the Elizabethton hitters."

It was the first complete game all season in the Appalachian League for Crim who said "In the eighth inning my arm was tired, but I got myself pumped up and went back out there for the ninth."
