Roberts Makes Plays at 61st Under Armour Senior Bowl

Mobile, Ala. -  NFL Scouts, a national television audience and a sold out crowd of 40,646 in Mobile's Ladd-Peelbes Stadium did not stop Bulldog standout wide receiver Andre Roberts from doing what he does best - making plays. The 22-year from Columbia, S.C. represented The Citadel and the Southern Conference playing for the South in the 61st Under Armour Senior Bowl on Saturday in Mobile, Ala. The North defeated the South, 31-13.

The all-time leading receiver at The Citadel finished the game as the second leading receiver for the South with two catches for 45 yards, one wooing all those who witnessed it. The 5-11, 190-pounder recorded his first catch in the second quarter from West Virginia's Jarrett Brown for 18 yards and a South first down on the North 12-yard line. The drive ended with a Leigh Tiffin 33-yard field goal for the South's first points of the game, making the score 17-3.

In the third quarter, Oklahoma State's Zac Robinson found Roberts, who made an impressive leaping catch surrounded by two defenders, for 27-yards and another South first down. However, the drive ended with a Robinson fumble on the South 49-yard line. The North, who was coached by the Detroit Lions staff, held the South, coached by Miami, scoreless in the second half and claimed the victory for the first time in three years.

Roberts, who finished coursework at The Citadel in December, was also invited to the 2010 NFL Scouting Combine and will spend the month in training.
