Baseball Earns First National Ranking Since 2001

Charleston, S.C. - The Citadel baseball team earned their first national ranking since 2001 on Monday as they were slotted at No. 25 in this week's Collegiate Baseball Top 30.

The last time the Bulldogs were ranked was in 2001 when they were also ranked in the Collegiate Baseball Top 30.The Citadel was ranked for three weeks following a 20-6 start that season and ranked as high as No. 21 in the nation.

This season, the Cadets are off to an overall record of 18-6 and 9-0 in the Southern Conference after their most recent sweep of Appalachian State over the weekend. The Citadel has won a school-record 17 consecutive regular season Southern Conference games, dating back to the 2009 season.

The Citadel also received votes in this week's USA Today/ESPN Coaches' Poll and the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association Poll.

The Bulldogs head to Columbia on Tuesday night to face No. 14 South Carolina at 7 p.m. at Carolina Stadium. For more information on Bulldog baseball, stay current at CitadelSports.com.
