Charleston, S.C. - The Bulldog football team wrapped up their first full week of the 2010 spring practice season on Saturday morning under a clear and sunny sky at the Maybank Triplets Practice Facility at Willson Field.
The Citadel, in full pads, participated in a two hour session which included six periods of scrimmaging, the introduction of the punt return schemes and several periods of one-on-one with the offensive and defensive linemen. "The defense dominated the scrimmage," said head coach Kevin Higgins. "New secondary coach Josh Conklin has added much to our defensive scheme in defending the option. His experience at Wofford and his knowledge of the option will benefit us greatly."
The Bulldogs also practiced on Friday afternoon for two and a half hours which featured three periods of pass skeleton, a one-on-one period and plenty of individual work. The defense installed its zone blitz concepts while the offense worked on several periods of half line.
The Bulldogs will take the remainder of the weekend and Monday off and will resume practice Tuesday. For further information on Bulldog Football and The Citadel Athletics, visit the official website of Bulldog Athletics at www.CitadelSports.com.
