Charleston, S.C. - The Citadel Golf team will participate in the 2010 Southern Conference Women's Golf Championship on April 18-20 at Moss Creek Golf Club's North Course in Hilton Head Island, S.C.
The Bulldogs finished the regular season in 10th place and they will look to sophomores Bree Baumgartner and Alanna-Jean Keith, who stand in 44th and 45th places on the SoCon leader boarder, to lead them into the tournament.
The Citadel finished the 2009 championship 10th overall with a three-round team score of 1,043. Keith led the Bulldogs with a 248 for a 30th place finish, followed by Baumgartner with a 257 (42nd) and Christine Clark with a 263 (45th). Brittany Nagel and Natalie Flores rounded out the scoring for the Bulldogs with a 282 (49th) and 299 (50th), respectively.
This is the second straight year that Moss Creek has hosted the SoCon Championship, as Furman won its 13th league title in 16 seasons a year ago. The Paladins topped second place Chattanooga by 22 strokes at the par 72, 6,050-yard course, led by Stefanie Kenoyer who won her second conference tournament in as many years. The junior will look to become the first-ever three-time SoCon champion at this year's event.
The winner of the SoCon Championship will earn the league's automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament. The tournament tees off at 8:00 a.m. Sunday morning, and fans can follow the action at www.golfstatresults.com.
