Charlottesville, Va. - The Citadel's Asher Wojciechowski picked up another national award on Thursday when he was named to both the American Baseball Coaches Association's All-Atlantic Region Team as well as the 2010 All-America team.
Wojciechowski was named to the first team of the All-Atlantic Region Team, joining College of Charleston's Matt Leeds and Wofford's Mac Doyle as the only players from the Southern Conference. He also made the third team All-America list, making it the fifth different publication that Wojciechowski has earned national All-America status.
The Southern Conference Pitcher of the Year became the highest draft pick in the history of The Citadel baseball program in early June when he was selected by the Toronto with the 41st overall pick in the supplemental first round.
The junior hurler went 12-3 in 17 starts in 2010 and threw 125.2 innings with an ERA of 3.58. The right-hander's 155 strikeouts are the most in Division I this season and were the third most in school history in a single season. His 12 wins in 2010 are tied for the most in school history. The Bulldog ace threw three complete games and had seven double-digit strikeout performances this season.
Wojciechowski has earned numerous national awards already the season as he was named to Collegiate Baseball's All-America second team, the Ping! Baseball All-America second team, the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association second team and Baseball America's third team All-America list.
He earned two SoCon Pitcher of the Week awards this season. Last summer, the Beaufort High School graduate pitched for the U.S. National Team and went 2-1 with an ERA of 2.18 in five appearances and 20.2 innings pitched with 29 strikeouts.
"Wojo" finishes with a career mark of 20-7 and an ERA of 4.05 and 308 career strikeouts, the third most in school history.
