Cleveland, Ohio - The Citadel's Cortez Allen was listed as a first team defensive back to Phil Steele's Preseason All-SoCon Team on Thursday.
Allen is the lone representative for the Bulldogs. He makes the list after starting all 11 games in 2009 and finished second on the team in total tackles with 57, of which 36 were unassisted.
The Ocala, Fla. native's best game came against Samford on Oct. 31 when he recorded six solo tackles and one assisted tackle to go along with two interceptions for 112 yards, which is the second highest single-game total in SoCon history. His performance earned him the SoCon Defensive Player of the Week.
The redshirt senior had a season-high seven solo tackles and six assisted tackles at Chattanooga on Nov. 14.
Allen earned SoCon media second team All-Conference honors last season.
