The Citadel vs. Chattanooga Game Notes (October 1, 2011)

• The Citadel wore white jerseys with white pants.

• Chattanooga won the toss and deferred to the second half.

• Freshman quarterback Aaron Miller made his collegiate debut on the first possession in the second quarter. His first play from scrimmage was a 15-yard rush. He totaled 30 rushing yards in his first three plays.Miller finished the game with 61 yards on 16 carries and completed his only pass for six yards.

• The blocked punt by Billingslea in the fourh quarter was the fourth blocked punt of the season.

• The blocked punt that was recovered and returned for a touchdown by Rod Harland marked the first of its kind since Mel Capers blocked a Princeton punt and Reggie Rice returned it for the touchdown in the 37-24 win at Johnson Hagood Stadium in 2008.

• The Bulldogs gained revenge as The Citadel was up 21-0 and lost 31-28 in a come-from-behind Chattanooga victory the last time they played at Finley Stadium in 2009.

• The Citadel has scored 28 points in two consecutive games at Chattanooga and a team finished with 28 points in the last three series matchups.

• The win marked the first time The Citadel defeated a ranked FCS opponent since defeating then No. 19 Elon, 42-31, at Johnson Hagood Stadium in 2007.

• The win improved the Bulldogs to 2-2 on the season for the third consecutive year.

• The win also broke a three-game losing streak against Chattanooga dating back to 2009. The last time The Citadel defeated Chattanooga was a 24-21 win at home on Nov. 15, 2008. The last Bulldog win in Chattanooga was a 41-16 victory on Sept. 29, 2007.

• The Citadel mounted the biggest comeback since Oct. 13, 1973. In that game, also against Chattanooga, the Bulldogs rallied from a 20-6 halftime deficit to score 22 unanswered points and win 28-20 at home.
