Southern Conference Names Groselle as Player of the Week

Spartanburg, S.C.—  The Citadel's Mike Groselle added another accolade to his resume on Tuesday following his performance at the All Military Classic in Colorado Springs, Colo., when he was named Southern Conference Player of the Week for all games through Nov. 14 according to the league office. The recent honor comes one day after College Sports Madness named Groselle as SoCon Player of the Week.

The Plano, Texas, junior combined for 41 points on 16-of-21 (76.2%) shooting in a weekend series at the All Military Classic. Groselle was named to the all-tournament team, finishing with a pair of double-doubles against VMI (25 pts., 11 rebs.) and Army (16 pts., 10 rebs.).

Those double-doubles moved him into a tie with Virgil Stevens for seventh-most career double-doubles (10) in program history. Groselle has now reached double figures in each of his last eight games, dating back to Feb. 14, 2011 against Savannah State. Coincidentally, Groselle has three straight double-doubles dating back to a 12-point, 12-rebound performance against Elon at the Southern Conference Tournament on March 4. This string of double-doubles marks the second time in his career that Groselle has achieved the feat in three straight contests.

The Citadel returns to action on Wednesday, Nov. 16, when they host Clemson, marking the first time that the two teams have played at McAlister Field House since Nov. 28, 1989. Five days later, the Bulldogs complete a two-game homestand when they square off against Florida Christian. The Dogs complete the first month of action with a road game at High Point on Nov. 26.
