Charleston, S.C. - The league office announced on Thursday afternoon that The Citadel's Austin Pritcher has been named the Southern Conference Pitcher of the Month in February.

Pritcher (Charleston, S.C.) started the 2011 season off in impressive fashion for The Citadel as he set career highs in both innings pitched and in strikeouts in his first two starts. He posted a record of 2-0 and an ERA of 1.29 ERA in the month. The sophomore right-hander went 7.0 innings in both starts against Towson and Old Dominion. In February, he allowed just two earned runs, eight total hits and struck out 15.

The Citadel returns to action this weekend with a three-game conference series against Samford at Riley Park, beginning Friday at 6 p.m.

All three games will be video streamed live on Bulldog Insider and play-by-play announcer Darren Goldwater will call his first baseball games of the 2011 season from Riley Park on Fox Sports Radio 1450 AM this weekend.
