Spartanburg, S.C. - The Citadel sophomore tennis player David Orces has been selected as the Southern Conference Student-Athlete of the Week as announced by the league office on Wednesday, March 16.
Orces, a native of Guayaquil, Ecuador, owns a 3.559 GPA in business administration.
While competing solely at the No. 1 singles position, Orces leads the Bulldogs with an 8-4 overall record and 2-1 in conference action. Last week he went 4-1, which included a 2-0 record in SoCon play. Orces tallied wins over Case Western Reserve, James Madison, Appalachian State and Wofford. His lone loss of the week came against Alex Kostanov of South Carolina in the second match of a doubleheader. In the loss Orces forced a tiebreaker in the first set, won the second set and loss by a tight three games in the third set super-tiebreaker.
