Couch Tabbed to 2010 NSCAA Scholar All-South Region Team

KANSAS CITY, KAN. – The Citadel's Shanna Couch has been selected to the 2010 National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) Scholar All-South Region Team as she earned honorable mention honors announced by the College Scholar All-America Committee on Wednesday, April 19.

Couch, a junior midfielder from Kansas City, Kan., holds a 4.0 cumulative GPA in Health, Exercise, and Sport Science. She is one of only four student-athletes among the four teams selected that owns a perfect GPA. To qualify, student-athletes must be at least a junior in academic standing, own a 3.30 cumulative GPA and have participated in at least 50 percent of the team's games.

Couch started in 20 matches in 2010, assisting the Bulldogs in their most successful season in program history. The Citadel finished with their first winning record, going 12-8-1 overall and 7-4 in the Southern Conference. Additionally, the Bulldogs made their first-ever trip to the SoCon Championship Tournament, advancing to the semifinal round after tallying a thrilling, 2-1, double overtime victory against Furman in the quarterfinals.

For her efforts in the classroom this season, Couch has also been selected to the 2010 CoSIDA/ESPN Academic All-District women's third team for District 3 and the 2010 SoCon Fall Academic All-Conference team.
