Charleston, S.C.— Citadel Volleyball Head Coach Amir Khaledi released the names of three players who will join the Bulldogs as members of the 2011 recruiting class. It brings the total number of cadet-student-athletes to six, including three from early signing period, Khaledi's first after taking over the program in November.
The recent additions include in-state signee Amanda Rudnik from Columbia's Spring Valley High School. Khaledi also added depth to the lineup with libero and defensive specialist Haley Corson (Gloucester, Va.) and middle hitter Janiece Judkins (Ewa Beach, Hawai'i).
Amanda Rudnik, 5-9 • Outside Hitter
(Spring Valley HS; Columbia, S.C.)
Rudnik comes to The Citadel volleyball program after playing at Spring Valley High School. She also saw action with the Midland Volleyball Club.
-
Amir Khaledi on Rudnik: "Amanda has been a tremendous individual on both the Spring Valley and Midland teams. She helped lead them to great heights during her playing season. Most important for our program is that she is a true six rotation player, combining great ball control and tremendous jumping ability. She possesses the talent to improve us at the outside hitter position."
Haley Corson, 5-6 • Libero/Defensive Specialist
(Christchurch HS; Gloucester, Va.)
Corson joins the Bulldogs after a highly successful career at Christchurch High School under coach Karen Byrd. Corson served as co-captain and captured Virginia Commonwealth Conference Player of the Year honors. She also played on the club volleyball circuit for the U-Turn Volleyball Club, under Don Gresham, one of the elite club coaches nationally.
-
Amir Khaledi on Corson: "She attended our camp last summer and I was very impressed with her quickness. Haley has very fast feet and great ball control. I'm excited that we were able to get another solid ball control player because that is something critical to the development of the program."
Janiece Judkins, 5-11 • Middle Hitter
(Aiea HS; Ewa Beach, Hawai'i)
Judkins played for the Pakela Volleyball Club under Gabriel Maunupau, who served as an assistant on the club level and with the University of Hawai'i. She enjoyed a successful playing career at Aiea High School and managed to place in numerous Hawai'i Region and Southern California Region club tournaments.
-
Amir Khaledi on Judkins: "Janiece is a very talented athlete who has lots of ability and great potential to be an outstanding player for our program. I really look forward to working with her over the next four years of her career. Her success at the high school and club level will be a tremendous asset to the growth of The Citadel Volleyball program."
