The Citadel Football Volunteers for Habitat for Humanity

Charleston, S.C. – Members of The Citadel 2011 football team and coaching staff will give back to the community on Saturday as they volunteer at Habitat for Humanity's Joeva Cove.

The Bulldogs, who participate in a number of volunteer activities throughout the offseason, also recently worked on another Habitat for Humanity project a couple of weeks ago on James Island. A group of approximately 15 cadet-student-athletes and coaches are expected to work at Joeva Cove, a Sea Island Habitat for Humanity community at 1102 Reverend Joseph Heyward Road in West Ashley, on Saturday, June 25 from 8:30 a.m. to approximately 12 p.m.

Sea Island Habitat for Humanity is an affiliate of Habitat for Humanity International, a nonprofit, ecumenical Christian housing ministry that seeks to eliminate poverty housing and homelessness from the world and make decent shelter a matter of conscience and action. The organization invites people of all backgrounds, races and religions to build houses together in partnership with families in need. Founded in 1976, Habitat for Humanity has helped build over 400,000 decent, affordable houses and served more than two million people around the world. The Sea Island Habitat for Humanity, located on Johns Island, became the third affiliate in the world in 1978.

For more information on the Bulldogs' volunteer activities, contact Director of Athletics Media Relations Noelle Orr Blaney at (843) 953-5353 or (843) 708-0044.
