Bulldog Track & Field Releases 2013 Schedule

Charleston, S.C. – Jody Huddleston, who is entering his 27th season at the helm of The Citadel's track & field team, announced the release of the Bulldogs' 2013 indoor and outdoor schedules on Tuesday.

The Citadel will open up its first of six indoor meets on Jan. 19 when the team heads to Newport News, Va., to compete in the Captain's Invitational. After a trip to Navy for the Wesley A. Brown Invitational, the Bulldogs will get their first glance at the new JDL Fast Track Complex in Winston Salem, N.C. for the Hilton Garden Invitational.

The state-of-the-art facility will also host the 2013 Southern Conference Indoor Championships on Feb. 23-24.

"I'm looking forward to the season and always look forward to going to the indoor meet at the U.S. Naval Academy," said Huddleston, "The indoor championships are at a new location so our first trip to the JDL Fast Track should be exciting."

The Citadel will kick off its outdoor campaign on March 2 at the Battle of the Beaches in Wilmington, N.C., before hosting the fourth annual Palmetto Classic on March 8 at the Park West Complex in Mt. Pleasant.

Following the home meet, the Bulldogs will trek to Statesboro, Ga., to compete in a pre-championship competition at Georgia Southern on the same track that will host the 2013 SoCon Outdoor Championship. The conference meet is slated for April 20-21.

The Bulldogs will also travel to Ft. Lauderdale, Fla., on March 22-23 for the Military Championship, the Raleigh Relays on March 29-30 and the Florida Relays in Gainesville, Fla., on April 5-6, before heading to Rock Hill, S.C., to compete in the Carolina Cup on April 12.

"We are all excited about the Military Championships and a trip to Ft. Lauderdale," added Huddleston. "We think the schedule will be very competitive and we are looking forward to some record breaking performances."

Regional and national individual races will follow the conference championships, including the Penn Relays on April 25-27 in Philadelphia and the Tiger Qualifier in Clemson, S.C., on May 10-11.

The top 48 athletes in each event in the Eastern region will advance to the NCAA East Regional Meet held at N.C. A&T in Greensboro, N.C., on May 23-25.
