Bulldog Grapplers Participate in Komen Lowcountry Race for the Cure

Daniel Island, S.C. – Members of The Citadel wrestling team and coaching staff laced up their running shoes last weekend to participate in the 20th-Annual Komen Lowcountry Race for the Cure 5k at the Family Circle Cup on Daniel Island, S.C.

"This is an important cause for the wrestling program and its team members and coaches," said head coach Rob Hjerling. "Most of us have a friend or family member that has been affected by breast cancer so it feels good to be able to give back to the community and show our support for the cure."

The Citadel, who opens up its 2013-14 slate this weekend in its yearly Blue/White match, collected donations and ran as a team to help promote breast cancer awareness in the Lowcountry.

The Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure® Series is the largest series of 5K run/fitness walks in the world. You can run or walk the 5K route, with a team or as an individual.
