Six Bulldogs Named to All-Southern Conference Teams for 2013 Season

Media All-Conference Release

Coaches' All-Conference Release

Spartanburg, S.C. – A total of six Citadel football players were named on Tuesday to the 2013 All-Southern Conference team including first team nods for defensive linemen Derek Douglas and Justin Oxendine and cornerback Brandon McCladdie.

Oxendine was selected to the SoCon Sports Media Association first team, while Douglas and McCladdie were on the coaches' squad. Douglas and McCladdie were joined by offensive lineman Cullen Brown on the media second team, while Brown, Oxendine and linebacker Carl Robinson were on the coaches' second team.

Linebacker Tevin Floyd was selected to the conference's all-freshman team.

Douglas closed out his senior campaign with 40 tackles, 8.5 tackles for loss (eighth in SoCon) and four sacks (sixth in SoCon). The Garland, Texas, native climbed near the top of the record book in tackles for loss and sacks as he closed out his career in sixth place in Citadel history with 38.5 TFL and fifth in sacks with 16.

Douglas played in 42 games as a Bulldog, earning 37 starts and accumulating 141 tackles. His lone fumble recovery resulted in a touchdown which helped lead the Bulldogs to a 27-24 win over VMI in Lexington, Va., in 2012.

Oxendine stormed on the scene during his junior season, accounting for a team-leading 11.5 tackles for loss and 4.5 sacks, both of which are fourth most in the league.

He has played in 31 games through three seasons, earning 16 starts, and has tallied 14.5 tackles for loss and 5.5 sacks to go along with his 71 tackles.

McCladdie had another huge year in the defensive backfield for the Bulldogs as the senior accumulated 58 tackles and 1.5 tackles for loss. The Martinez, Ga., native tallied two interceptions in each of his four seasons, giving him eight in his career and leaves him in a tie for 11th in program history. One of McCladdie's interceptions resulted in a 92-yard return for a touchdown against Wofford earlier this season.

His league-leading 10 passes defended (interceptions + pass breakups) gave him 27 in his career to place him sixth in Citadel history. McCladdie finished his career having played in all 45 career games, starting the final 36.

Senior Cullen Brown proved to be a versatile player through his five years as a Bulldog. The Cocoa Beach, Fla., was recruited as a tight end and played two seasons at the position before stepping into a needed role on the offensive line.

Brown started on the offensive line in each of his final 23 games and completed his career with 34 starts through 44 games. He also holds the distinction of being the last Bulldog tight end to catch a pass when he hauled in a 26-yarder against Appalachian State back in 2011.

Robinson had a breakout season in 2013, accumulating a team-leading 92 tackles through 11 games, before a knee injury forced the junior linebacker to miss the final contest of the season against Clemson. However the Irvington, Ala., native still closed out the year in a tie for seventh place in the conference in tackles, averaging 8.4 per game.

Robinson has played in 25 games at linebacker, starting 22 of them, and has accounted for 188 tackles, 7.5 tackles for loss, five passes defended and one fumble recovery through three seasons.

Floyd joined the Bulldogs in 2013 and made an immediate impact at the linebacker position as a true freshman. The Tallahassee, Fla., native played in all 12 games and earned his first career start against seventh-ranked Clemson in place of the injured Robinson.

Through just 12 career games, Floyd accumulated 38 tackles, two interceptions, both in a win against Elon, and two fumble recoveries, one of which he took back for a touchdown in a victory at Western Carolina.
