Charleston, S.C. –The Citadel tennis team returns to action Sunday to host Jacksonville State at 1 p.m., at the Earle Tennis Center.
The Citadel has lost its last three matches but has continued to play tough. David Orces (5-3) and Peter Bleach (6-3) both remain above .500 for the Bulldogs in singles, while James Atkinson made a solid season debut against Elon last weekend. The Citadel netters will be looking for a non-conference win to trigger some momentum as they will continue a strong conference schedule for the remainder of March and early April.
Jacksonville State
The Gamecocks have lost four-straight matches to hold a 2-9 record. A member of the Ohio Valley Conference, Jacksonville State is led by seniors Igor Santos with a 5-6 record and Axel Sundberg who is 4-7 and presently on a two-match winning streak.
The Citadel and JSU are tied at two matches piece in all-time appearances against each other. In their last outing in 2011 the Gamecocks defeated the Bulldogs 5-2 at the Earle Tennis Center. Atkinson and Orces each earned a point for The Citadel.
A recap and results will be available following the match on Sunday.
