Princess Daisy Captures Fourth Annual Beautiful Bulldog Contest

Charleston, S.C. – More than 25 English bulldogs paraded but only one – Princess Daisy, owned by Jay Gowdy of Ridgeville – was crowned Most Beautiful during The Citadel Football Association's fourth Annual Beautiful Bulldog Contest that was held on Saturday at Johnson Hagood Stadium.  The contest was held in conjunction with The Citadel's spring football game.

Regarded as a ham for attention who loves to crush plastic drink bottles, Princess Daisy finished just ahead of Brutis, owned by BJ Miller of Mt. Pleasant, who was named runner-up.

Maximus, the 2012 overall winner and Mr. Personality in 2013 and who is owned by Karry and Greg Bellamy of Mt. Pleasant, won Best Physique while Bandit, owned by Kevin Pinet of Mt. Pleasant, was runner-up.

The Best Tail Wagger Award went to Nellie, owned by Doug Barnes of Lancaster, while Chubbs, owned by James Keeler of Hanahan, came in second. Luther, owned by Jenn Michael of Summerville, was the bulldog with the Best Smile and Smith, owned by Lara Adler of Pawleys Island, was runner-up. Weston was named Best Personality while Bruiser Boy, owned by Logan Skinner of Mt. Pleasant, was runner-up.

Molly Mae, last year's Most Beautiful Bulldog who is owned by Veronica and Michael Schwartz of Georgetown, was crowned Miss Congeniality while Lucy Lu, owned by Carla and Tim Beem, was selected second.  Nigel, owned by Allison Pendock of Jacksonville, Fla., and who appeared in an airplane outfit, captured the Best Costume Award.

Proceeds from the Beautiful Bulldog Pageant go directly to help fund football scholarships and liv mascots G2 and Box X.
