Charleston, S.C. – On the strength of a solid performance in Southern Conference play, The Citadel's Ashton Moore was named to the College Sports Madness All-SoCon second team.
In 16 conference games Moore led the Cadets in scoring (269 points), field goals (86), assists (61), free throws made (54), 3-point field goals (43), steals (22) and point per game (16.8).
The Suffolk, Va., product posted six 20-point performances against SoCon foes, including a career-high 35-point outing against Davidson on Feb. 17. Against the Wildcats he knocked down 11-of-19 (57.9%) from the floor, 4-of-7 (57.1%) from beyond the arc and 9-of-9 at the free throw line.
Moore, who had eight games of five assists or more in league play, joined Marshall Harris III as the first set of teammates to have 100 assists in the same season.
The Citadel's Matt Van Scyoc and Brian White were named to the College Sports Madness All-SoCon fourth team.
In his sophomore season Van Scyoc leads the Dogs in points (446), total rebounds (171), defensive rebounds (139), field goals (137), free throws (110), free throw percentage (86.6) and points per game (14.4).
White was the Bulldogs' most effective shooter in SoCon play as he hit 52.6 percent from the field, connecting on 61-of-116 attempts. He finished second against conference foes in total rebounds (70) and third in points (148).
